We already discussed my 5 priorities and why they are important to me.
#2 on that list of 5 was “learn fast & act quickly.”
In the past, I often failed at this. I either acted quickly, but took to long to learn anything useful… OR I learned a lot, but took forever to act on the new info.
A big reason behind failing at the first was that I would spend days/weeks/months tweaking and perfecting the landing pages of any new project I was launching. I had no idea what would work, but I still finessed those sites like every change I made improved the site at least 1%.
Big surprise: they did not.
No matter how much I think I know about how people will react to an idea or website, I only truly know once they start interacting with it. Better to launch the site, start getting feedback, and then to tweak it from there.
Here’s what finally worked for me…
The solution for me has been Leadpages.
I even built my latest project’s entire site from it – Overwhelmingly.co – in less than 3 hours (including an alternative page for split testing). I just bought a domain, linked my newly made Leadpage to the home page, and I was done!
Here’s Why I Use Leadpages Exclusively
- The pages have already been tested and can be sorted by conversion rate – use what works and move on.
- There is limited flexibility (this is a good thing for our purposes). This means you are not allowed to obsess about every detail and can only make major changes to the copy. Avoid the Paradox Of Choice that plagues “wantrapreneurs.”
- Easy split testing. I can create two vastly different landing pages and easily split test them against each other to test what messaging early visitors respond to. See the two pages I am currently testing for Overwhelmingly:
- Easy beginning email management – I am most interested in people contacting me so that I can learn about their exact Facebook issues. The faster I learn, the faster I can act. Leadpages let’s me turn every subscribe form into a contact form. I even set it up so that I get emailed the message directly and set up an autoresponder THROUGH Leadpages to immediately tell people that I will get back to them shortly.
Do You Waste Time Constantly Tweaking Your Site
Better site design and copy CAN have a drastic effect on people interacting with your site. But for me, I tend to spend WAY too much time on the first half of that equation and never even get to the interaction phase.
Best to get interaction as fast as possible and THEN make your tweaks.
So how about you?
Do you spend a ton of time tweaking your site before anyone even sees it?
Priority #1: Unwavering & brutal honesty. This includes full transparency – I am a Leadpages affiliate, but only because I swear by the product. Feel free to type in the URL yourself if you don’t want to use my affiliate links 🙁
